Trace

Privacy Policy

Effective April 10, 2026

Trace does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. Everything stays on your device.

What Trace stores

Trace saves contact information you enter (names, phone numbers, emails), along with the date, time, and location where you met each person. This data is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you grant Contacts permission, Trace also writes contacts to your Apple address book.

What Trace does not do

Permissions

Trace requests the following device permissions, all of which are optional:

No permission is required for Trace to function. The app works fully offline.

Data sharing

When you choose to share your card via QR code, AirDrop, or the share sheet, you are initiating that action yourself using built-in iOS capabilities. Trace does not share any data on its own.

Data deletion

Deleting the Trace app removes all locally stored data. Contacts previously saved to your Apple address book will remain in Contacts unless you delete them separately.

Children's privacy

Trace does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app contains no account system, no data collection, and no internet connectivity.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. Since Trace collects no data, material changes are unlikely.
